Maldives
It is a giri, the Dhivehi term for an underwater pillar that comes close to the surface. The north and west sides are full of overhangs and caves, where encrusting anemones, shells and sea slugs, sponges, and black and horny corals appear. On the southeast there is a reef spur covered in leather corals. In Faafu Atoll, the good season usually runs from October to March, and the monsoon usually falls from around April to November.
