Alika Reef

Among coral formations, the site gathers schools of fusiliers and snappers, as well as turtles, moray eels, scorpionfish, nudibranchs and octopus. On the island of Aluvifushi, south of the reef, the Sun Aqua Iru Veli resort (now Sun Siyam Iru Veli) began welcoming guests in December 2018. In Dhaalu, the northeast monsoon, from November to April, usually brings calmer seas and the highest visibility. During the southwest monsoon, from May to October, currents tend to be rich in nutrients, which tends to increase the chances of seeing mantas and pelagic fish in Dhaalu.
