Maldives
Maa Kandu is one of only four channels cutting through the outer barrier reef of Addu Atoll, about 0.9 km long and 0.6 to 0.9 km wide. The site is marked by a large coral outcrop resting on the sandy bottom. In Addu, the reef manta ray (Mobula alfredi) population is probably isolated: 91% of the identified animals are resident to the atoll and have never been recorded elsewhere.
